But whoso hath this world’s good,
and seeth his brother have need,
and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him,
how dwelleth the love of YHWH in him?
If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father,
will he give him a stone?
or if he ask a fish,
will he for a fish give him a serpent?
Or if he shall ask an egg,
will he offer him a scorpion?
Are you comfortable opening your kitchen cabinets?
Can you live with yourself after opening the fridge?
Think of the child’s stomach that is aching right now!
Dig into your food storage, not the least, but the main items. And donate a minimum of 1/4th of it to your local food pantry. Even giving of your time to serve the food.
Go through your house, garage and fill your car full with good, clean, usable items for the homeless shelters. Again, give your time to assist others in such places with what they need.
Do you not see your brother is in need?
He is beside you every day!
Do you not have eyes to see?
A heart that feels?
Eyes to shed tears?
Legs that can walk?
Arms that can lift?
A mouth to call unto YHWH? … so what is the excuse?
But whoever has this world’s goods,
and sees his brother in need,
and shuts up his heart from him,
how does the love of YHWH abide in him?
The wife and I have already taken this challenge and do so weekly with anonymity. I cannot divulge more than that but will say YHWH rewards us weekly, openly and ensures us enough to give.
Don’t worry…. give… YHWH will take care of you and what you need, have faith. I have seen it countless times with my own eyes. Give no thought to what you give except that another is in need.
Take heed that ye do not your alms before men,
to be seen of them:
otherwise ye have no reward of your Father
which is in heaven.
Therefore when thou doest thine alms,
do not sound a trumpet before thee,
as the hypocrites do in the synagogues
and in the streets,
that they may have glory of men.
Verily I say unto you,
They have their reward.
But when thou doest alms,
let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:
That thine alms may be in secret:
and thy Father which seeth in secret himself
shall reward thee openly.
If you gain a receipt from giving… you failed the challenge.
For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased;
and he that humbleth him self shall be exalted.
Then said he also to him that bade him,
When thou makest a dinner or a supper,
call not thy friends,
nor thy brethren,
neither thy kinsmen,
nor thy rich neighbours;
lest they also bid thee again,
and a recompence be made thee.
But when thou makest a feast,
call the poor,
And thou shalt be blessed;
for they cannot recompense thee:
for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.
