How does One obey?
Many are unknowingly violating the 2nd commandment. Most have no idea how to obey this commandment and are ignorant (Hosea 4:6) of what actually constitutes as
a graven or carved image.
One should study and make the decision to be a doer of YHWH’s Word (James 1:22) and faithfully put into practice what one learns.
Thou shalt not make* unto thee any graven image*,
or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above,
or that is in the earth beneath,
or that is in the water under the earth:
Make: H6213 – `asah
def: to do, to fashion, to accomplish, to make, to produce, to prepare, to observe, to celebrate, to acquire (property), to appoint, to ordain, to use, to spend, to pass, to be used
Graven image: H6459 – pecel
def: idol, image
Root of H6459: H6458 – pacal
def: to cut, hew, hew into shape
As doers of the Word we need to live by (and raise our children) according to the faith of YHWH. Not according to the world nor the influence of devils. YHWH commanded His people that no graven images were to be made, acquired, melted for profit or kept.
We can easily read that graven images are off limits no matter which way one tries to bend it. Since this is one of the biggest problems between YHWH and His people (golden calf anyone?), this is a lesson one should take seriously.
Man is always trying to justify his actions by attempting to re-write scripture and its meaning. Man would define a graven image or idol as something that man would physically bow down to. But what does the Word say?
Take ye therefore good heed unto yourselves;
for ye saw no manner of similitude
on the day that YHWH spake unto you
in Horeb out of the midst of the fire:
Lest ye corrupt yourselves,
and make you a graven image,
the similitude of any figure,
the likeness of male or female,
The likeness of any beast that is on the earth,
the likeness of any winged fowl that flieth in the air,
The likeness of any thing that creepeth on the ground,
the likeness of any fish that is in the waters beneath the earth:
Notice that YHWH’s definition of a graven image is not dependent on what a man does, or does not do with the object. YHWH makes no distinction between an object that is worshiped, and one that is not worshiped. These are simply graven images by definition that YHWH despises.
The definition is simply based on a clear explanation of being an image or likeness of a living creature, as given in general in Exodus 20 and in detail in Deuteronomy 4. Examples of these objects are all around us, everywhere, and can be in the form of art or figurines in the likeness of people, animals, or angels. They can take the form of stuffed animals, toys, brass eagles, wood ducks, fish, and other animals, ceramic sun and moon objects, carved and cast statues, statuettes, toy soldiers, heroes, monsters, objects imitating other life forms, whether real or imaginary and many, many other items.
Why are we attracted to graven images? Visible, physical objects often appeal to the senses, delight the flesh, and have great attraction. However, we need to be cautious and realize that objects can carry unseen spiritual realities that can actually bring curses to the one who has the object.
Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house,
lest thou be a cursed thing like it:
but thou shalt utterly detest it,
and thou shalt utterly abhor it;
for it is a cursed thing.
It is clear through out scripture that graven images and idols were among the many forms of abominations that were off limits to YHWH’s children. We see that if an abomination were to be brought into our places of home or office, it will put the same curse upon us that that object has or is under.
We have been warned. These are not simply figurines, art objects or toys as the world sees them. In the spiritual realm, these objects are abominations. They attract demons and the curses that go along with them. Do we want our homes full of these demons? It is these demons that can cause sicknesses along with all types of troubles in the home among other things.
We should check our homes for any objects that fit the scriptural definition of a graven image and we ought to destroy them, burn them, or throw them out immediately! As we cannot give nor sell them away.
House cleaning should be done on a regular basis to ensure nothing can cause demonic problems. We must look throughout our homes, and pray diligently seeking YHWH’s guidance about any item(s) that need to be destroyed. This includes all statues, figurines, dolls, stuffed animals, and the like. Even a cute country boy and girl salt shaker set is off limits. There comes a great freedom and healing when we begin to be obedient to YHWH’s commandments.
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter:
Fear YHWH, and keep his commandments:
for this is the whole duty of man.
YHWH knows that graven images lead to idolatry. Having these things in our homes give the demons a legal right to enter our homes, and to remain, until we repent of our disobedience. This is the source of much sorrow today in homes and families of otherwise faithful followers. They are simply ignorant of the importance of obedience.
If Messiah came to your door and said, “Get rid of your carved images“, could you easily discard them in the trash? Would you hesitate, aching over the value and sentiment that they represented and hold to you?
YHWH desires the obedience of His children, are you one of His children? Those who love YHWH are those who will obey Him. Many like, have or have had (i)dolls, but what are dolls?
a small-scale figure of a human being used especially as a child’s plaything
Small scale figure of a human being or animal, used especially as a child’s plaything. The doll is perhaps human kind’s oldest toy. Some ancient dolls may have served religious or magical functions, as do voodoo (see vodun) dolls in modern times.Dolls were buried in children’s graves in Egypt, Greece, and Rome and in early Christian catacombs. In Europe dolls have been commercially manufactured since about the 16th century. Doll heads were made of wood, terra-cotta, alabaster, and wax, while the bodies were made of carved wood or leather stuffed with sawdust. In about 1820 glazed porcelain (Dresden) doll heads and unglazed bisque (ceramic) heads became popular. These were supplanted in the 20th century by molded plastic. In Japan, dolls are used as traditional festival figures. In India, elaborately dressed dolls were given to child brides by both Hindus and Muslims. Today both antique and modern dolls are often collected.
Keep in mind, each time the Israelites started to worship idols, YHWH sent them into captivity and bondage as punishment.Today many homes are under a curse and the people are not even aware of it. The moment we bring a forbidden object into our home or building, we establish a legal cause for a curse to come upon us.
As the bird by wandering,
as the swallow by flying,
so the curse causeless shall not come.
As a result, problems and difficulties with disciplinary problems, out-of-the-ordinary or chronic sickness, accidents, emotional problems, and many others may be caused by accursed objects in the home. Parents and children alike need deliverance from the demonic influence, and from the curse of idolatry of these graven images.
These objects can become the enemies strong holds. These can be in the form of a trinket, jewelry, or sentimental object, received as a gift or memento, or inherited from someone previously involved in occult practices of any kind, as far back as the third and fourth generation, Deuteronomy 5:9.
These strongholds must be removed from the house or building. People must repent by destroying the objects. If possible they should be burned (adult supervised of course) so no one else may find or retrieve the object, and become accursed as well. Once the legal right to remain has been removed from the house, an eviction must take place. By commanding these spiritual demons in the name of YHWH to leave and never return.
Demons know exactly when someone has authority, and when they do not. This is not a game and a wavering attitude may create a problem seven times worse than before, Matthew 12:43-45.
•1 Corinthians 10:14
Wherefore, my dearly beloved,
flee from idolatry.
•1 John 5:21
keep yourselves from idols.
For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft,
and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry*.
Because thou hast rejected the word of YHWH,
he hath also rejected thee from being king.
YHWH does not need us to have or use graven images to promote His kingdom. All that is required is walking in the truth of the Word. Our simple obedience to the true teachings of the Word of YHWH will result in signs, wonders and miracles following.
For this ye know,
that no whoremonger,
nor unclean person,
nor covetous man,
who is an idolater,
hath any inheritance in the kingdom
of the Messiah and of YHWH.
Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth;
fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection,
evil concupiscence, and covetousness,
which is idolatry:
For which things’ sake the wrath of YHWH
cometh on the children of disobedience:
Any type of collection of figurines, art objects, dolls, toys, or any other likeness of living things (such as owls and frogs especially, which are stated as abominations to YHWH), unicorns, birds, elephants, fish, bears, soldiers, any object which depicts one of YHWH’s created living beings, as well as a likeness of the heavenly bodies are graven images. One may have many of these items in their home or office, or just one. But it is just as deadly as a whole collection.
This post was made to share with others the truth of graven images. For we, as a household, are following this lesson to be doers of the Word, not just hearers.
The images displayed in the post are the same or similar to some of the idols this household has removed. In the past I had to do a mammoth undertaking of idol removal. For I use to have a very large collection (800+ pieces) of Bugs Bunny as my 401k. Today, not a single Bugs Bunny item remains in the house.
We are cleaning our house… will you clean yours as well?
